Marriage does not measure on how long you have been together; there are many ways on how to become a better husband or wife. In realness, the couples who are at the happiest are those that continuously work on enhancing their marriage. Married couples are liken to employees in a company, where they still maintain to attend some trainings and lectures on improving themselves.

Majority of the couples do not have a right training on knowing to become a good partner. This is because in the modern days, instant decisions are made. The new generation of couples today commonly relies on physical attraction which is not good. The looks should not be the grounds when your get married, you should also consider on how you and your partner combine with each other in terms of your values and behaviour. There are only small number of people who went to ample counseling regarding marriage. That is why when arguments happen majority of these couples do not have an idea on how to manage them. Rather than having silent treatments or nag at each other, why don’t you try understanding and appreciating your differences.

Below are some of the things that you should always take note in order to become a better spouse.

First. Look and learn from people who have been married for a long time but still happy. While it is given that you have uncommon values and attitude, they always have the best tips on how to manage things like what they did in order for their marriage to last that long. Learn from them on the things that they did to keep their marriage strong. Ask them how they treat each other even though they are really different from each other.

Second. Find your spouse’s weakness. Weakness in the sense that you should know what makes him feel loved. For instance, does your wife love to receive flowers? Does your husband love what you cook? How does your wife feels if you give her a hand with her chores? Do the things that makes your partner happy. If you are unsure that this certain thing makes your wife happy or otherwise, ask! Treat each other the way you did when you first fall in love.

Third. Go on dates. Going out even on simple dates during common days surely helps. Do things that made you fell in love in the first place. Being married does not mean you have to stop dating since you are living on the same roof. You can go out on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, depending on your schedule. Going out for a cup of coffee is alright. The important thing is to have time for each other and enjoy each other’s company.

Fourth. Make your spouse your priority over your parents, your kids, your boss and your friends. In your everyday life, you are face with dissimilar choices that will or will not display priorities. Your marriage is very valuable that is why you have to make sure to protect it by making wise decisions. Remember, your kids will soon have their own families. And your parents have each other when they grow old; while you, have your spouse, the reason why you have to take care of your partner no matter what.
