Marriage separation is an unattractive reality that is why before this happens to you; right before your marriage will start, you should be working on it on how to save it. There are a lot of means to prevent separation. The things below are the simple techniques in order to keep your marriage strong.
• Honesty is the best policy. It is a must that honesty should always be practiced in a marriage; white lies are not even suitable because even it is for the good of the relationship, it is still a lie. It is better to hurt your partner by telling him the truth than hurting him with a lie. Open communication is very important in a marriage. Nonetheless, the way on how to open up issues should be in the most calm way. During your discourse on issues, do not talk at the same time. Vigilantly listen to what your partner is saying as well comprehend him appropriately with what he is trying to tell.
• You should evade emotional separation from your partner by giving steady support for each other’s passion and interests. Rather, set time to accompany your partner for his hobbies. Make it a habit to talk efficiently at least once a week is also another way to avoid emotional separation.
• Setting a schedule or a date for just the two of two. Make it a habit that at least once a week or once in two weeks, where you only have each other, away from work, school, children and friends. This the absolute time for you to appropriately converse about things and deal with concerns regarding your marriage.
• Make a romantic gesture at least once a week. This is to evince your love and affection. You really do not need to splurge money to make your partner feel loved. For husbands, you can make your wife happy by assisting her with some of her chores. Or you can make her coffee or breakfast. For wives, you can cook your husband’s favorite food in one of your family dinners. You can also write some simple notes telling him to take care or that how much you love him.
• If you have issues raised, talk about the problem and its potential resolutions. Instead of blaming each other, think of the ways on how to solve your problem. There is no point in arguing and pointing each other’s hand because the problem is already there, the only thing left to do is to gently talk about it and find a answer.
Marriage is not a fairy tale where you have the ‘lived happily ever after’ life. It is accepting your partner's imperfection and continually loving him behind all his imperfectness. Marriage is like a business where you have invested you feelings. These feelings should be cared for and maintain to work on it. Do not forget that conflicts always happen in marriage. Do not deal with your problems as barriers, instead a test for your marriage to become stronger. Most importantly, do not spread your marriage problems to other people, even your closest friends. Marriage problems should be resolved by the couple. The only time where you can seek for help is when you feel that you have already done everything, but still nothing happens. Or better yet, go for counseling.
